Leave the A26 motorway at Gravellona Toce, following the signs for “Lago d’Orta”. After passing through the centre of Gravellona, continue straight along the uphill stretch to the traffic lights. Turn right towards Casale Corte Cerro.

Drive up to the village and enter its centre, passing below the church. At the fork just beyond it, keep right towards “Montebuglio”. Follow the main, relatively level road, with the valley on your left and the mountain on your right.

At Montebuglio, continue straight until you join a road coming uphill from the left, then carry straight on to the small village of Gattugno. The road may seem to end here, but it continues between the church and the houses and into the woods.

After a long stretch, a house appears on the left by a crossroads. Go around the house, turning left twice, and take the road to the monastery. Take care on the concrete section: take the bend as wide as possible on the left.

Head to Omegna and, at the traffic lights in the town centre, follow the signs for Valstrona. About 2.5 km into the valley, you will reach the hamlet of Canova del Vescovo, where the road narrows. Immediately afterwards, take the sharp, U-shaped right turn towards Germagno.

On reaching the village, keep right onto the rural road leading to Quaggione.

Continue uphill for about 1 km through the woods until you reach some renovated mountain huts and a four-way junction. Keep right again, following the blue-and-white sign reading “Giardino della Resurrezione”, onto the road to the monastery. Take care on the concrete section: take the bend as wide as possible on the left.

Take the Milan–Domodossola railway line (Bern or Geneva) and get off at Verbania station. Another, secondary route is the Novara–Domodossola line: get off at Omegna station. By prior arrangement with the brothers, a car will be waiting to collect you at either station.
